Who Created Nachos?

who created nachos? Nachos were created in the 1940s by a man named Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya. He was working as a maître d' and head chef at a restaurant called the Victory Club in Piedras Negras, Mexico, which is located near the US-Mexico border. The story goes that a group of US military wives were visiting the town and stopped at the restaurant, but it was closed. Anaya, who was working in the kitchen, decided to make something for them to eat using the ingredients he had on hand. He cut some tortillas into wedges, fried them, and topped them with cheese and jalapeño peppers. He served them to the women and called them "nachos especiales," which translates to "special nachos." From that day forward, the dish became a staple on the menu and it's now known as Nachos.
